Community Poll Results: Next Major VH Update

After a week of this poll being active, the community has voted to have OSC support for VRChat added to VH as part of the next major update (after the accessibility update)!

Those who voted for the other options, don't worry! Those features will also be added at some point later down the line. The purpose of this poll was to help me determine how I should prioritize my development time. I am a solo dev and can only work on one new feature at a time, and adding a new feature often means updating the existing systems which also takes time. I plan on trying to start releasing major updates on a somewhat quarterly basis.

Here is the estimated roadmap of updates for now thorough 2025:

Nov 2024 - Accessibility Update(s); Better one-handed support, more options to toggle the handheld

Dec 2024 - Cleanup & Optimization Update(s); Better performance, more performance options, cleaner backend code

Q1 2025 - OSC Support for VRChat; Enables user to add a handheld prop to their avatar that can be toggled automatically via a parameter, allowing for more immersive presence within virtual worlds. I plan on making an easy-to-follow guide on how to add a handheld prop to your avatar using Unity.

Q2/Q3 2025 - Custom Skins Support; Allows users to create and upload custom skins that replace the textures and fonts of the handheld to give a more personalized look and feel to the handheld. I plan on using mod.io to integrate easy uploading, browsing and installing of community-made skins agnostic to if you are using the Steam or itch.io release!

Q3/Q4 2025 - Gyro/Motion Simulation; I know I keep teasing this one, but I am serious about adding it. This will allow you to use the rotation of your VR controllers to simulate a joystick, D-pad or DualShock 4 gyro. This will be great for FPS games that require precise aim, and for emulating games that require motion controls to be played properly!
